Perry Cardoza, ASLA
Chapter President
It was a pleasure representing our Chapter and participating in this year’s Annual Meeting. For those of you who could not attend, rest assured our chapter was well represented. Some of our members were very visible in helping shape policy while others sat on expert panels presenting works and experience during the many educational seminars.
Over the coming months, we will be providing updates on programs and issues affecting us as Landscape Architects both in Southern California and nationally. As part of this year’s agenda, the Executive Board is planning numerous opportunities for networking, educational lectures and activism for both professional and personal growth.
On the social/ educational level, please join us for this year’s Chapter Design Awards and celebrate with friends and colleagues at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) on October 25th. Check your email for details. The theme for the event is “Expressing Creativity through the Art of Landscape Architecture”. We have planned an evening meant to inspire and showcase the talents of both our professionals and students within our chapter. Please come out and join us as we enjoy the art work of some of our gifted members and reminisce as we visually honor some of our esteemed colleagues both past and present.
Over the next twelve months the Executive Committee leadership and I look forward to meeting you at events and sharing ideas on how we can continually grow our chapter both in numbers and member benefits. As we move into this coming year, please consider volunteering your time and talents to the Chapter - I guarantee it will be time well spent! Additionally, as a new member benefit, we would like to help promote you/your firm as Landscape Architects providing community services. Please send us your story so that we can acknowledge you in our Newsletter! We want to recognize the many incredible things you do and contributions you make for the benefit of our communities!
As you know, it takes many dedicated people to run a volunteer organization such as this. I would like to thank all of you who sponsored, participated, helped organize or chaired one of our many programs during last years calendar. I look forward to working with you again plus meeting some new volunteers over the course of the year.
